Climate neutral luxury – yachts, real estate, luxury cars
Luxury without harming the environment. Not only does it sound tempting, but it is already possible. In the face of the climate crisis, it seems only natural that manufacturers develop concepts that help reduce the emissions of their products. Of course, the luxurious should not be lost in the process. We took a look at the latest concepts and researched which low-emission luxury goods are already available on the market.
Climate neutral vehicles
They are also called zero emission cars and this means that this vehicle is built in such a way that it does not emit any harmful substances into its immediate environment. This definition primarily includes muscle-powered, fuel cell-powered, and electric-powered vehicles. The best known and probably the most popular are the electric cars. More and more companies are producing cars with electric motors. There are more charging stations than there were a few years ago and, in general, the range of the vehicles is constantly improving. Electric vehicles already offer a number of advantages, which is why it can be worthwhile to find out exactly what the environmentally friendly alternatives are when buying a new car.
One of the most famous car brands that specializes in electric cars is Tesla. Tesla focuses on innovation and efficiency, which is usually of great importance to your customers. As an example of a luxury electric car, we would therefore like to briefly introduce the Model S Plaid from Tesla. The range of the Model S Plaid is estimated at 637 km. This model accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 2.1 seconds and is really under power with 1020 hp. In addition, this particular model has a few more special features: a 960-watt audio system, yoke steering, and a 17-inch touchscreen.
Yachts without emissions
The oceans also want to be explored without emissions. Therefore, there are already concepts how this can succeed on a luxurious ship like a yacht. In 2019, at the Monaco Yacht Show, a model of a 110-meter superyacht designed to run on liquid hydrogen was unveiled. The vessel is named Aqua and is the first superyacht to run on liquid hydrogen and fuel cell technology. Thus, the only emission of the ship would be water. Aqua not only impresses with its cutting-edge technology, but also shines with its modern design and first-class comfort.
The sport yacht sector is also rethinking and investing in more projects that will make sailing yachts emission-free as well. The electric sailing yacht ClubSwan 36, for example, will use the Power 48-5000 battery system, with its storage system charged by an underwater propeller. This particular sailing yacht was built from carbon and combines the advantages of the dinghy and keelboat sail. So you can see that zero-emission yachts are set to become the watercraft of the future, and you can look forward to more models and projects in the years to come.
Climate-neutral real estate: zero-energy houses
Passive houses, or zero-energy houses, are properties that balance their externally sourced energy with their own energy gain over the course of the year. Nowadays, this is already made possible by modern heating systems, for example with the help of geothermal energy. The electricity required to operate the heat pump is either self-produced or also purchased in a climate-neutral manner in the form of green electricity.
A zero-heat house requires, no energy supplied from the outside for heating. In our climate, this is only possible with active systems, such as very large solar panels (possibly with seasonal storage).
These particular buildings are compact. They have extremely good thermal insulation and the windows are consistently oriented to the south. The remaining heating and hot water demand, which is very low, is covered by a solar collector system. This loads during the spring and summer months a seasonal water reservoir, which is usually located centrally in the house. In this way, the heating energy demand can be ensured during the low-radiation, cold season.
