Christmas decorations: the top trends for 2023
Christmas decoration fans get into high spirits during Advent – after all, the house and garden need to be decorated to brighten up the wait for baby Jesus. We’ll show you what’s on trend this year.
Christmas is approaching – and the anticipation of the festive season is already visible in many houses, apartments and gardens. After all, Advent is probably the most popular time to decorate your own four walls. Fairy lights, lamps and candles, reindeer, angels, Santas, nutcrackers, Christmas tree baubles, bells, wreaths and much more to brighten up the wait for baby Jesus. There are no limits to the imagination, anything goes. Incidentally, paper figurines are particularly popular this year, and in addition to the classics red, green, gold and silver, white, natural tones, gray and black are also on trend.
Trend #1: Christmas decorations in Scandi style
As with the furnishing style, the Scandi-style Christmas decorations are reduced to the essentials. Timelessness, style and functionality are at the forefront, natural materials such as wood and paper, but also glass and ceramics provide visual calm – a blessing in the often hectic pre-Christmas period. This trend will also be reflected in the Advent wreath in 2023: simple models, for example made of metal, will decorate many a living room this year. And even the table decorations play their part: Light stick candles and twisted dark candles create a cozy atmosphere at Depot, for example, accompanied by simple tableware in warm brown tones and clean wooden decorations.
Trend #2: Classic and retro decoration
The traditional colors red and green play a key role in this trend. This year, the nuances focus on dark, rich tones such as cherry or chimney red as well as pine and bottle green. Warm moss green, lilac, rosé and beige tones complement the color palette, as do black and cool blue tones, which create a particularly elegant, stylish ambience. Textiles with vibrant motifs and colors in folklore design give the home an individual look and create a cozy and festive atmosphere. The trendy folklore motifs on cushion covers, napkins and wrapping paper can be ideally combined with white and green accessories for traditional decoration fans. Fir and mistletoe branches and decorative figurines made of solid wood round off this trend. And as a special Christmas decoration, some people even dig out one or two nostalgic objects.
Trend #3: Lush / Maximalist
There is hardly a better time to indulge in lavish decorations than Advent. This trend is all about glitter, shine and glow. Fans of this style don’t just rely on the colors already mentioned – Christmas decorations in bright pink, yellow or green can also be found. Hardly a spot remains unadorned, true to the motto: “There can never be enough”.
