The most expensive dishes in the world
For many, culinary delights are a lifestyle. So it’s no wonder that there are now 4-star restaurants and exclusive specialties with the finest ingredients and unusual flavors all over the world. But how much do these high-class specialties cost and what do you get for them?
Mexican taco for $25,000
To kick off this post about the most expensive dishes in the world, here’s a very special taco. Probably the most expensive taco in the world was created by Mexican chef Juan Licerio Alcalá in the state of Baja California – to the amazement of some residents, you can find cheaper tacos in Mexico on every corner. So why would you buy a taco for $25,000 (23,600 euros)?
The dough patties are filled with shrimp, sinfully expensive Kobe beef and Alma’s beluga caviar, black truffles and gold flakes. Seasoned with smoked and dried jalapeno chilies and so-called “cat coffee”. With these exquisite ingredients, the price is worthy of all. Before guests can even take their first bite, a deposit and proof of the booked presidential suite at Hotel Grand Velas Los Cabos is required.
Whether it is worth spending so much money on this rarity is up to each person. However, the taco has never really been ordered.
Grapes for 10,000 euros
In Japan, fresh fruit is something for the créme de la créme of the population. Many Japanese pay incredible sums for such rarities – such as for this luxury grape.
“Ruby Romans” is the name of this special variety of grapes. The whole bunch of grapes includes 30 pieces and can be purchased at auction for 9,800 euros. Thus, one grape is worth a whole 327 euros, breaking all world records.
A single grape has the size of a ping-pong ball. That is why this noble fruit is also a popular gift. Unlike No. 1 – the taco – luxury grapes are sold in record amounts.
Pizza for almost 1,900 euros
You pay almost $2,000 for this luxury pizza in New York. In the restaurant “Industry Kitchen” you can enjoy the sinfully expensive Margherita. The luxury variation is topped with truffles, Stilton cheese from England, foie gras from France, caviar from the Caspian Sea, edible flowers and 24-carat gold leaves from Ecuador.
Pizza “24K” must be ordered at least two days in advance.
