Christmas spirit
December has begun and even in Vienna the first snowflakes have already fallen. The streets are decorated with glittering lights and the first candle on the Advent wreath is burning. In order to really infect everyone with the pre-Christmas enthusiasm, here are a few tips to conjure up a touch of Christmas spirit in your own home.
The best joy is in anticipation
Starting on 1 December, each day begins with a joyful surprise when the Advent calendar is opened early in the morning. And not only that – the pretty calendars also make great decorations and decorate any wall thanks to the detailed and wintry designs. Whether it’s a classic chocolate calendar, a self-filled one, or a pretty picture calendar, each model brings a dash of Christmas cheer.
Shed light on the subject
Few hours of sunshine and long nights characterize the cold pre-Christmas season. But this is not a problem in any case! In order to make our homes really cosy and to bring Christmas anticipation into the house, we like to decorate every room with fairy lights, candles and luminous decorations. This makes the rooms look much more cosy and the golden lights instantly brighten up a room. A twinkling poinsettia on the windowsill or a twinkling string of lights snaking along the curtain rod, lights are an easy way to bring Christmas into the home.
Having the right nose
Hardly any other time do we associate with so many typical smells – cinnamon, oranges, fresh cookies from the oven or delicious punch. You can either make these wonderful scents yourself or take scented candles instead of conventional tea lights and decorate your home with them. The scented candles are not only beautiful to look at, but can also smell of various Christmas scents. Firs, vanilla, orange, incense or cedar. In no time at all, the candles will transform any room into a feel-good oasis full of Christmas flair.
Oh Christmas tree, Oh Christmas tree
You don’t have to wait until Christmas Eve to decorate the room with beautiful dark green pine branches. Already on the first Sunday of Advent, an Advent wreath decorates the kitchen table and makes the whole room smell of the fresh branches. And such a wreath is not only on the kitchen table – an inviting wreath made of fir branches and cones also hangs on the front door. If you still haven’t had enough of the evergreen plant, you can find numerous other craft and decoration ideas on the Internet. This will make it really Christmassy at home!
