Ce n&rsquo;est pas pour rien que les experts parlent d&rsquo;une \u00ab\u00a0pand\u00e9mie de la position assise\u00a0\u00bb ou que celle-ci est \u00ab\u00a0le nouveau tabagisme\u00a0\u00bb. Ainsi, seuls 47% des adultes, concr\u00e8tement 48% des hommes et 45% des femmes, respectent les recommandations minimales d&rsquo;activit\u00e9 physique li\u00e9es \u00e0 l&rsquo;endurance.<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-die-gesundheitsrisiken-von-langem-sitzen\"><strong>Les risques pour la sant\u00e9 d&rsquo;une position assise prolong\u00e9e<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n<p>Les cons\u00e9quences sont fatales : elles vont du mal de dos \u00e0 l&rsquo;hypertension en passant par les maladies cardiovasculaires et le diab\u00e8te de type 2. Le risque de d\u00e9pression ou de cancer est \u00e9galement accru par une position assise trop longue.  <\/p>\n\n<p>Il en va de m\u00eame pour la d\u00e9mence, comme le montre une \u00e9tude r\u00e9cente de l&rsquo;<em>University of Southern California USC<\/em> et de l&rsquo;University of Arizona : Selon cette \u00e9tude, le temps total pass\u00e9 quotidiennement en position assise est un facteur d\u00e9terminant pour le vieillissement du cerveau. Les personnes qui restaient assises plus de dix heures par jour avaient huit pour cent de risques suppl\u00e9mentaires de d\u00e9velopper une d\u00e9mence.  <\/p>\n\n<p>Si la dur\u00e9e de la position assise \u00e9tait sup\u00e9rieure \u00e0 12 heures, ce risque augmentait de 63 pour cent et pour tous ceux qui restaient assis plus de 15 heures, il augmentait m\u00eame de 221 pour cent. \u00ab\u00a0Nous avons \u00e9t\u00e9 surpris de constater que le risque de d\u00e9velopper une d\u00e9mence augmentait rapidement apr\u00e8s dix heures de s\u00e9dentarit\u00e9 par jour\u00a0\u00bb, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 l&rsquo;auteur de l&rsquo;\u00e9tude, Gene Alexander, professeur de psychologie et de psychiatrie.<\/p>\n\n<p>Et ce, quelle que soit l&rsquo;origine de la s\u00e9dentarit\u00e9. Selon Alexander, cela sugg\u00e8re que le lien entre le comportement s\u00e9dentaire et le risque de d\u00e9mence est d\u00e9termin\u00e9 par le temps total de s\u00e9dentarit\u00e9.<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-lebensgefahrliches-sitzen\"><strong>Assis en danger de mort<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n<p>Rester trop longtemps assis peut m\u00eame potentiellement mettre la vie en danger, comme le montre une \u00e9tude r\u00e9cente men\u00e9e en Scandinavie : Pr\u00e8s de 12.000 personnes \u00e2g\u00e9es de plus de 50 ans ont \u00e9t\u00e9 suivies pendant 5,2 ans en moyenne. Environ la moiti\u00e9 des sujets passaient plus de 10,5 heures par jour en position assise. Il s&rsquo;est av\u00e9r\u00e9 que les personnes assises plus de douze heures par jour pr\u00e9sentaient un risque de mortalit\u00e9 accru de 38 pour cent. D&rsquo;ailleurs, selon des chercheurs de l&rsquo;universit\u00e9 MedUni de Vienne, pr\u00e8s de 8 % des d\u00e9c\u00e8s en Autriche sont dus \u00e0 un manque d&rsquo;activit\u00e9 physique. Au niveau mondial, ce chiffre est de 9%.  <\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-zumindest-20-minuten-bewegung\"><strong>Au moins 20 minutes d&rsquo;exercice&#8230;<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n<p>L&rsquo;\u00e9tude a toutefois montr\u00e9 que ce risque diminuait d\u00e8s 20 \u00e0 25 minutes d&rsquo;activit\u00e9 physique par jour. Il s&rsquo;agit par exemple de la marche rapide, de la randonn\u00e9e et du v\u00e9lo, mais aussi des t\u00e2ches m\u00e9nag\u00e8res.
