Founded in 1896 as a saddlery, Wittmann M\u00f6belwerkst\u00e4tten is today one of the most renowned upholstered furniture manufacturers in the world.<\/p>\n\n

Distinctive design meets masterful craftsmanship – that’s the motto of Wittmann M\u00f6belwerkst\u00e4tten, which has been producing high-quality upholstered furniture by traditional hand for 126 years in Etsdorf am Kamp in Lower Austria. <\/p>\n\n

The Who’s Who of the design world<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n

But not only the quality as well as the – as far as possible – from the region sourced materials are guarantors for the success of the family business, which also manufactures individual pieces and ensembles. Collaboration with renowned designers is also an important building block in the foundation of the Wittmann brand, which has been and continues to be strongly influenced by this cultural and design exchange. The list of cooperation partners reads like a Who’s Who of the architecture and design world. Johannes Spalt, Friedrich Kiesler, Matteo Thun, Jean Nouvel or Paolo Piva, Jaime Hayon, Monica F\u00f6rster, Sebastian Herkner, Luca Nichetto, Christophe Pillet or Arthur Arbesser, among others, can be found on it. One name should by no means be missing from this list, namely Josef Hoffmann, co-founder of the Vienna Secession and the Wiener Werkst\u00e4tte. After all, Wittmann is still the only furniture manufacturer in the world authorized to build the furniture according to Hoffmann’s original designs. In collaboration with these internationally renowned designers, perfectly crafted furniture is thus created, which in its originality enriches private luxury interiors and exceptional projects in hospitality, retail and corporate offices worldwide, making all the difference. Because Wittmann is capable of setting trends and creating milestones in furniture history. <\/p>\n\n

Internationally respected<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n

Originally, the family business was founded by Franz Wittmann as a saddlery. His son Rudolf expanded the business to include reupholstering the upholstery in horse-drawn carriages, thus laying the foundation for the interest in upholstery. After the Second World War, Franz Wittmann junior, then head of the company, finally decided to switch entirely to the production of upholstered furniture, relying more and more on designs by renowned architects of post-war modernism. Following this path and its commitment to quality and craftsmanship, the manufactory became an internationally renowned brand as early as the 1950s. Today, around 15,000 chairs, sofas, armchairs, beds and mattresses leave the production facility in Etsdorf every year, and around 120 people are employed here. The export share is 70 percent, Wittmann furniture is offered in more than 50 countries worldwide. In addition to Europe, the USA and Australia, new markets such as China, Korea and Taiwan have long since been opened up. <\/p>\n\n
