Outdoor furniture that shines in summer but doesn’t take up any space in winter? The start-up VEEP from Perg in Upper Austria has developed clever design solutions for precisely this problem – compact, comfortable and surprisingly elegant. <\/em><\/p>\n\n

It’s also worth looking to the future when it comes to garden furniture. For example, when you ask yourself: What do I do when summer ends – and the furniture stays? Just the idea of the daybed getting in the way of gardening in the fall and the sun lounger blocking the cellar can really spoil the anticipation of the next outdoor season. <\/p>\n\n

And this is exactly where VEEP comes in – with a charming solution to a well-known space problem: furniture that is spacious and comfortable in summer, but can be retracted to a minimum size in winter. Founder Patrick B\u00f6hm puts it in a nutshell: “We wanted to develop outdoor furniture that harmonizes form, function and design – and is also affordable.” <\/p>\n\n

From lockdown sketch to design brand<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n

The idea for the VEEP brand was born – like so many things these days – during the coronavirus lockdown. When everyone was suddenly spending a lot of time at home, it became clear that your own garden can be much more than just a lawn and a deckchair. “Back then, I wanted a four-poster bed for the garden,” says B\u00f6hm. “Something with style that conveys vacation flair. But there was nothing that met my expectations – neither visually nor functionally.” <\/p>\n\n

So the Upper Austrian began sketching, tinkering and researching. What followed was a rapid development: from the first draft at the living room table to the product briefing to specialized manufacturers to the first collection ready for series production. Today, VEEP offers a range of modular, versatile outdoor furniture that sets new standards in terms of aesthetics, functionality and value for money. <\/p>\n\n

Less is more – and better<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n

“I’m an advocate of the principle: less, but better,” says B\u00f6hm. “Our range is deliberately kept lean – each piece must be able to speak for itself.” And they do: Sun Lounge, Sky Bed and the Studio, Gallery and Side Table side tables – each product impresses with its clear lines, minimalist design language and well thought-out function. <\/p>\n\n

The heart of much VEEP furniture is somewhat surprising: air. “The most sustainable filler of all,” says B\u00f6hm. The Sun Lounge, for example, is an air-filled daybed that is barely bigger than a shopping bag when packed – but offers full comfort when inflated. “A bit like a waterbed – only lighter, more elegant and made for outdoors.” <\/p>\n\n

Minimum effort, maximum convenience<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n

The metal furniture made of powder-coated steel or aluminum also scores with smart details: simple plug-in connections, space-saving pack size, clearly structured design. “We didn’t want to reinvent the wheel, but we wanted to make the existing better,” explains B\u00f6hm. Assembly is supported by video instructions, and an optional assembly service is also available. <\/p>\n\n

And the durability? “Our furniture is made to last through many summers – and also to survive the winter well.” This was precisely the starting point: furniture that inspires in spring and doesn’t get in the way in fall. <\/p>\n\n

Quality that remains accessible<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n

Despite the high-quality materials and sophisticated design, the products remain affordable. “Our aim is to develop furniture with high design and material quality that is accessible to many people.” Production is carried out by selected partners in Asia, who also manufacture for major European brands. Regular audits and personal visits ensure that environmental and social standards are adhered to. <\/p>\n\n

Outdoor furniture for the balcony, garden – and the loft<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n

VEEP is not just for homeowners with a 1,000-square-meter garden. “Our furniture also works on city balconies or in lofts,” emphasizes B\u00f6hm. The Sun Lounge is appreciated by campers, city dwellers, families and pool owners alike – as a guest bed, play mat, lounge chair or relaxation island. The Sky Bed, originally intended for outdoor use, now also finds its place in the bedroom or living room – as a luxurious oasis of calm with style. <\/p>\n\n

And what happens next?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n

The 2025 collection is already on the market. Product variants, extensions to existing bestsellers and collaborations with exciting brand partners are in the pipeline. But B\u00f6hm remains true to his line: “We want to go deeper rather than wider – like a good restaurant with a small but excellent menu.” <\/p>\n\n

In the end, what remains is a company that not only produces furniture, but also reinterprets the principle of “well-being with understanding”. Or as B\u00f6hm puts it: “The look is the ticket – the comfort is the experience.” <\/p>\n\n
