Every vacation passes, usually faster than you would like. We have put together five tips for you to help you keep that vacation feeling in your everyday life for at least a little while longer or to keep it alive.
Finally get a good night’s sleep and simply live the day without pressure or constraint, read all the books piled up on the coffee table. Hiking, swimming or lazing around, getting to know foreign countries and cultures or simply unwinding – on vacation, everyone can recharge their batteries in their own way. For months, you look forward to one of the best times of the year full of anticipation… but as soon as you arrive, your vacation is already over.
The vacation feeling and relaxation fizzle out quicker than you’d often like and you’re back to everyday life. But that doesn’t have to be the case – with the five tips below, you can bring that vacation feeling into your everyday life and create islands of relaxation.
#1: Recall the vacation feeling
Whether by the sea or by the lake, in the mountains or in a foreign city – we collect countless impressions every day on vacation. Recall them at home: look at videos and photos that you have taken. Print out photos that you particularly like. Display or hang the pictures in your office or home and review the moment they were taken.
You can also use the good vibes of music: For example, listen to music from your vacation destination, the sound of the waves (recordings of which are available on the Internet, for example) or those songs that enchanted you during your evening sundowner. By the way, a travel journal is a good reminder!
#2: The way to the heart is through the stomach, and so is the vacation feeling
Pizza, pasta, paella, moussaka, baklava, kebabs, curries and so on… the list of dishes that we associate with foreign countries is long. Enjoy the dishes that you particularly enjoyed on vacation at home in a restaurant or cook them yourself.
#3: Bring a vacation feeling into your four walls
Travel inspires, even when it comes to your own home. Inspired by the colors, shapes and motifs at their vacation destination, many people have given their four walls a makeover on their return. Of course, you don’t have to redecorate your home to feel like you’re on vacation. You can also create a vacation feeling with cushions, plaids, bed linen, towels, crockery, vases, pictures and decorative objects, as well as plants. Perhaps you will find one or two pieces at your vacation destination?
#4: Allow yourself time out
When one day is like another, you’re rushing from appointment to appointment and the to-do list is getting longer and longer, it’s time to break the daily grind. The best way to do this is to treat yourself to an occasional break. Meet up with friends, go to the theater, a concert or a good restaurant, or treat yourself to a massage or pamper yourself at the beautician.
Don’t be available around the clock, retreat with a good book or enjoy a soothing bath. Go for a digital detox in the evening or at the weekend, go out into nature, even if it’s just a short walk in the park. Breaks like these are important to calm down and relax. The more often you do this, the better it is for your body, mind and soul.
#5: Plan your next vacation
After the vacation is known to be before the vacation. Planning your next break is a powerful booster for that vacation feeling. Find out about the countries and places you would like to visit and familiarize yourself with the local culture and cuisine. Because: The next vacation is sure to come!
